La princesa Leia, líder del movimiento rebelde que desea reinstaurar la República en la galaxia en los tiempos ominosos del Imperio, es capturada por las malévolas Fuerzas Imperiales, capitaneadas por el implacable Darth Vader, el sirviente más fiel del emperador.
